2009 IPELS 32nd Annual Symposium: HE SAID SHE SAID: The Impact of Gender Bias on Negotiations

Recent research indicates that gender has an impact in negotiations in certain circumstances. This panel will explore the impact of such bias in negotiations and the stereotypes that form their basis, as well as consider the following questions: To what extent do these stereotypes exist? What effect do gender stereotypes have in negotiations and negotiation performance? What traits or characteristics make for an effective negotiator? Do men and women have distinct negotiation styles? Can women be assertive negotiators without losing credibility? How can understanding gender bias help both men and women become more effective negotiators?
