The Supreme Court and the Constitution: Medical Coverage, Access to Justice, and MoreErwin Chemerinsky and Howard Miller, two of California's premier legal minds, will discuss historic issues presently before the U.S. Supreme Court:
(1) "Obamacare," which raises a number of historic issues, including the breadth of federal power under the commerce clause and the scope of the federal taxing power;
(2) Federalism issues inherent in efforts by states such as Arizona to enforce federal immigration law;
(3) Access to justice cases such as AT&T Mobility LLC v. Concepcion that invalidated a state law banning clauses requiring the waiver of class action arbitration; and
(4) Other issues raised by the audience.
