Presented by Family Law Section
Co-Sponsored by: Los Angeles Collaborative Family Law Association
Program Information:
On the dispute resolution continuum between mediation and litigation lies the innovative process of collaborative family law. CFL is an out-of-court process that incorporates legal advice to both parties while also adding psychological support, neutral child development, and financial expertise to serve families who face divorce and want to have a full-featured alternative to the adversarial process.
The Collaborative Family Law model is the fastest growing form of family law ADR in the United States. The December 2003 issue of Los Angeles Lawyer included an article describing this model.
This program will provide an introduction to the fundamentals of collaborative family law and an overview of how an actual case is handled. The panelists are specially trained in the Collaborative Family Law process and participate in Los Angeles area professional groups that focus on this process.
Hon. Aviva K. Bobb, Supervising Family Law Judge, Los Angeles Superior Court, will introduce the panelists. Panelists will include attorneys Dvorah Markman and Donna Beck Weaver, CFLS. Mental Health Professionals on the panel are Mary Lund, Ph.D. and David Kuroda, LCSW. Andrew Hunt, CPA, ASA, with White, Zuckerman, Warsavsky, Luna, Wolf & Hunt is the financial specialist.
The program will provide an overview of the Collaborative Family Law model and the roles of the various professionals who provide legal representation, mental healthcare support, neutral child support, and financial advice. At the end of the program, questions and answers will be moderated by attorney Kristina Royce.
